“Sing to the LORD a new song, sing His praise from the end of the earth! You who go down to the sea, and all that is in it. You islands, and those who dwell on them.”
Isaiah 42:10
The recent Jerusalem Prayer Breakfast was a foretaste of Heaven; a celebration of kindred souls who love the LORD, stand with Israel, pray for the peace of Jerusalem, and spontaneously praise the God of Israel for His great deeds. This wonderful event was hosted by the Mayor of the City of the Gold Coast, Mr. Tom Tate who welcomed dignitaries from Israel’s Knesset (government), the Pacific Islands nations, visitors from the USA, MP’s from across Australia and JPB International, with a mayoral breakfast.
Indigenous Leader Ps. Tim Edwards opened the event and prayed: “…We as first nations Australians thank you that we are brothers and sisters with your first nation Israel, we thank you Father for the spirit of adoption, that we are one, we are family, we welcome Israel to walk with us.” We had the privilege of being led in prayer by other Australian Indigenous leaders who each prayed heartfelt prayers for the nation of Israel.
Representatives from 16 nations prayed for the peace of Jerusalem and read Bible portions throughout the event. Inspiring messages were brought by various speakers including ICEJ Australia’s Youth Director Pastor Moises Vasquez who gave a stirring testimony about his journey with ICEJ Australia and emphasised the importance of Christians attending the Feast of Tabernacles in Jerusalem.
Among the many highlights were:
- Fiji ICEJ’s Director, Ps Mikaele Mudreilagi asking as a younger brother to Israel, would the Jewish people present as his older brother, give him permission to don the tallit and blow the shofar, as a call to the Pacific nations to join their voices in support of Israel.
- Fiji Deputy Prime Minister Gavoka saying, “I stand here today knowing a new dawn is happening for Israel in the Pacific… There is indication that we all want to be there in support of Israel as a unit in the Pacific…”
- Israel’s Ambassador to Australia stating, “Let me make sure there is no misunderstanding. My paratroopers didn’t occupy nor conquer Jerusalem. They liberated Jerusalem….”
- Dr. Billye Brim, Prayer Mountain in the Ozarks, USA reminding us, “If you can still see the sun and the moon and the stars, there’s going to be a nation of Israel…”
The theme of Jerusalem Prayer Breakfast revealed the blessings that God will pour on the nations according to how they bless, how they supported and how they stood by Israel – and the judgement promised on those who don’t. The atmosphere of unity in praying for the peace of Jerusalem in English, Hebrew and Pacific languages was a palpable manifestation of the presence of God. Not only did we bless Israel, we were blessed.
ICEJ Australia was pleased to support the JPB organisers behind the scenes of this momentous occasion. Advocacy is a core part of our mandate, prayerfully consider a donation to help us continue this critical work in Australia.
