Australia's Shame
Following the horrifying arson attack on a Melbourne Synagogue ICEJ issued a statement which begins: ‘The International Christian Embassy Jerusalem (Australia Branch) is deeply saddened and horrified by the arson attack on Adass Israel Synagogue. We would like to extend our deepest sympathies to the synagogue and the broader Jewish community at this time. Please know that in this dark hour, you do not stand alone.’
Honouring William Cooper
It was a privilege for me to attend a joint event hosted by the Embassy of the State of Israel and the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany. A commemorative plaque was unveiled, celebrating William Cooper’s remarkable courage to protest against the vile atrocities of Kristallnacht. It was particularly significant as we heard of the horrifying resurgence of hatred and violence with the attack on the synagogue in Melbourne the very same day.
Melbourne
Last week, ICEJ assisted in organising a walk that retraced the footsteps of William Cooper. In December 1938, William Cooper, a 77-year-old Aboriginal elder and champion of human rights, walked 10 km to the German Consulate to deliver a protest against the Nazi regime’s brutal persecution of Jews across Europe. Despite being turned away, Cooper’s courageous stand, organized with the Australian Aborigines’ League, remains a powerful symbol of solidarity and resistance against hatred and oppression. The walk honoured the legacy of William Cooper and his descendants and ICEJ was represented at the annual commemoration of this historic protest. That very morning, the arson attack had taken place. Participants also gathered in a synagogue at which Tim Hall evangelist, descendant of a Light Horse trooper and part of ICEJ Australia’s Board delivered an inspiring address.
This has been a week of turbulent events. Psalm 46:6-7 says, “The nations are in chaos, and their kingdoms crumble!… The LORD of Heaven’s Armies is here among us; the God of Israel is our fortress.”

Meet Marty: The Australian Horse YOU Donated
We are thrilled to announce that our appeal for a new therapy horse to supplement the therapy team of horses at Kibbutz Urim has been completed!
Thanks to Australia’s generous donations a calm, gentle horse has been purchased and has started his important role already. “The kids already love him,” said a representative from the farm, “we are so grateful for your assistance in making sure we have the right horse for the right purposes.” Marty is representing ICEJ Australia on a Horse Therapy farm that helps rebuild children’s and family’s lives to establish normality and bring comfort to those suffering PTSD from the sickening events of Oct 7, 2023, and the displacement and tension of the ongoing war. Our provision of a horse in the south of Israel, follows our provision of shade over the Therapy Riding arena at Shilo, Israel’s Heartland.
Thank you to all who donated! Look for ongoing updates on Marty and his team members.
