HAIFA HOME REMEMBERS
In Psalm 89:50, after praising God for His love and faithfulness, Ethan the Ezrahite known for his wisdom, lamented that things had gone very wrong and prayed, “Remember, O LORD, how your servants are mocked, and how I bear in my heart the insults of all the many nations…”
Israel has borne many insults since Oct 7 as the nations rage and plot vain things (Psalm 2:1) but Israel must continue to do what they can to defend their citizens, bring the hostages home, while bearing their pain and anxiety. At the recent International Day Holocaust Memorial ceremony at the Haifa Home for Holocaust Survivors, ICEJ’s David Parsons assured the survivors, government officials and other Israeli guests, “Many Christians today feel they have a strong moral duty to confront the enemies of the Jewish people and nation,” he continued. “You are not alone in this battle. More Christians are standing with you than ever before. And together, we will prevail!”
More than ever, Christian pastors and ministry leaders need to deepen their understanding of Israel’s biblical and prophetic significance in our day as our International President, Dr. Jürgen Bühler, recently stated. This year’s ICEJ Envision Conference beginning on the 3rd February in Jerusalem will aim to bring that understanding about!
Dr Bühler writes: ‘We are witnessing historic developments unfold before our eyes in the Middle East and worldwide. Israel is gradually emerging from a multifront conflict, even while antisemitism is resurgent around the globe.’
At this years Envision Leaders and Pastors Conference, ICEJ Australia Board Member Dr Tim Hall will join Israeli and keynote speakers. I will also be attending Envision this year, representing our Branch, along with the all the other Australians who are making the journey to attend in person as well as those who are joining us online.
Envision is more than just another conference. Since Oct 7 2023, the annual Envision conference has emphasised the solidarity aspect with the people of Israel by visits to affected communities and the northern and southern borders in conjunction with the Israeli government.
