Jews Continue To Return Home To Israel With Aliyah

“Yes, I will rejoice over them to do them good, and I will assuredly plant them in this land, with all My heart, and with all My soul.” Jeremiah 32:41

Aliyah (a Hebrew word meaning “go up”) has come to mean the return of the Jews to the Land of Israel, their ancestral homeland. Simply stated, it is the ingathering of the exiles from the four corners of the earth. Aliyah “is rooted in the Jewish people’s fervent hope to rebuild their national life in the country from which it was exiled nearly 2,000 years ago.”

ICEJ not only funds flights for the Jewish Return but prepares them for Aliyah, and helps establish immigrants in the land by assisting with basic household items, providing vocational training, and mentoring towards employment.

One of the dramatic stories of Aliyah has been that of Ethiopian Jewry. It is thought they are descended from King Solomon and the Queen of Sheba, or, as one of ‘the Ten Lost Tribes’ from the tribe of Dan. For centuries, Ethiopian Jews dreamed of going home to Israel, some setting out by foot on their own. Finally, on the 21st Nov 1984, Operation Moses rescued 6,500-7,000 Ethiopian Jews from Moslem Sudan by air. It was the first of many amazing airlifts. Watch the historical footage of Operation Moses.

Aliyah sponsors more flights home for Jewish youth

Today, in spite of many challenges, they continue to make aliyah to Israel and many of those flights are funded by ICEJ.

Abraham - The Heir Of The World

Israeli schools celebrate Aliyah each year, on a day which this year fell on the 8th November. The celebrations coincide with the weekly portion of Torah which begins with God telling Abraham to go to a country He would show him.

Today, Abraham’s descendants still set out for a country that can be quite unknown to them. Help ICEJ get them there, especially in light of the growing violent antisemitism in Europe as Jews from those countries look to Israel.

Save the date and be ready to join together on the 6th of December at 10am, as we honour the enduring legacy of William Cooper. Be inspired by the story of an Indigenous Australian hero who championed the rights of persecuted Jews on the other side of the world.

Venue to be advised.

NEW APPEAL IN ISRAEL’S SOUTH - HORSE WANTED!

More than ever, Equine therapy is needed for Israel’s traumatised population and especially now in the south. Another horse is required at the Urim Farm stables for the growing demand for horseback riding and Australia has been asked to provide one.

The Restoration of Israel

Israel today is a remarkable country. Yet the land of Israel was not always so fruitful. God promised that one day He would come and find His people, no matter how far they had been scattered, and return them to the land promised to Abraham and his descendants as an “everlasting possession.”
