Remembering Redemption

Remembering Redemption Passover 2023 Sarah Way Hag Pesach Sameach

We wish our Jewish readers Hag Pesach sameach. May this coming celebration of deliverance be a blessed one as you share it with family and friends.

Passover is about:

Remembering, Exodus 12:14, “So this day shall be to you a memorial; and you shall keep it as a feast to the LORD throughout your generations. You shall keep it as a feast by an everlasting ordinance.”

Deliverance, Leviticus 26:13, “I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, that you should not be their slaves…”

Cleansing, Exodus 12:15, “Seven days you shall eat unleavened bread. On the first day you shall remove leaven from your houses. For whoever eats leavened bread from the first day until the seventh day, that person shall be cut off from Israel.” All leaven is to be removed from homes. Leaven (or yeast) puffs up and is symbolic of the way that pride and corruption grow and spread. This has no place in God’s redeeming actions.

Becoming the Set-Apart People of God, “I will take you as My people, and I will be your God. Then you shall know that I am the LORD your God who brings you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians.” They were set free to serve God, to become people following His Divine directions, and to be a channel of God’s redemption.

We are grateful for that Redemption, offered to the nations of the world.

Passover is the anniversary of Jesus’s death and resurrection. As there will not be a Director’s Update next week, we take the opportunity to wish our ICEJ family a meaningful season of remembering our deliverance through Jesus the Messiah. Romans 5:8, “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Messiah died for us.”

The Restoration of Israel

Israel today is a remarkable country. Yet the land of Israel was not always so fruitful. God promised that one day He would come and find His people, no matter how far they had been scattered, and return them to the land promised to Abraham and his descendants as an “everlasting possession.”
