Buildings to be Remodelled with Missile Shelters for Israeli students
Your assistance is needed URGENTLY by September 1st 2024.
As school prepares to return, children of Israel desperately need 3 large 15 square metre protective shelters to be used as group therapy and multi-purpose rooms in the Sha’ar HaNagev resilience centre amidst the constant threat of missile attack.
ICEJ Australia is partnering with the Sha’ar HaNegev Regional Council Resilience Centre Project and has pledged support to provide one multi purpose therapeutic treatment protective shelter for psychological and educational support.
The project which involves renovating old buildings adjacent to a primary school in the Sha’ar HaNegev Educational Campus, will be used during the day to treat school students. Due to the proximity of these buildings to the school, children can easily go directly from school for treatment and back again. After school hours the rooms will serve as treatment rooms for the adult residents of Sha’ar HaNegev. Given that the education campus is less than 4 km from the Gaza border, shielding the buildings is essential for the safety and security of the students, residents and staff. Because of the size of the shelter and the sandy ground underneath, an additional solid foundation must be built underground before the shelter can be placed.
Your generous donations are needed urgently to complete this project. Donations to this project are tax deductible.
Sha’ar HaNegev (The Gate to the Negev), is a region of more than 10,000 residents and borders Gaza including among other communities, Kibbutz Kfar Aza and Kibbutz Nahal Oz. These two communities were particularly devastated by the horrific terrorist attacks perpetrated by Hamas on October 7th, 2023, and the ensuing war and ongoing hostage crisis.
- 78 community members were murdered, including the mayor.
- A further 23 men, women, and children were abducted to Gaza.
- 11 of 12 communities were forced to evacuate their homes to temporary accommodation throughout Israel.
Some communities are still unable to return to their homes which lie in the shadow of war and devastation. Sha’ar HaNegev citizens continue to mourn the dead and pray for the return of kidnapped loved ones. The future looks uncertain, but the Sha’ar HaNegev Regional Council is committed to rebuilding stability and nurturing resilience for their returning residents and the Resilience Centre will be an integral part of which we can be part.
In faith, Australia branch has already sent funds to Aid for a down payment so work can begin, but we still need to raise an additional AUS $141,628 for one of the 3 shelters. You can make a real difference and be a part of something bigger by donating to this project. Let’s finish the job together.
