We set foot on the freshly painted tarmac of Hatzolah Air’s new base in Jerusalem—the city’s first civilian medevac helipad—to dedicate a bomb shelter which will now allow it to operate in times of emergency.
From early morning until dusk, a group of Christian volunteers spent ten days traveling from one corner of Israel to another to help out local farmers in their fields, distribute food parcels to the needy, clean the homes of Holocaust survivors, and paint apartments for new Jewish immigrants.
On Monday (the 3rd of August 2026), a group of 139 French Jewish immigrants were joyously welcomed by close relatives and well-wishers as they landed in Israel on an Aliyah flight chartered by the International Christian Embassy Jerusalem.
Israelis have needed all the effort, sacrifice and resilience of the whole country to endure an unexpectedly prolonged war, starting from 2023. It is difficult to explain the lasting psychological toll of waking every few hours through the night to seek shelter as explosions from intercepted missiles rattle nearby windowpanes.
Research has told us for decades that the postnatal period is a critical window for maternal health and infant development. Yet for many Israeli mothers, that window has felt more like a chasm during this nation’s prolonged war, especially as many have faced this difficult trial alone.
The ICEJ has continued to stand in solidarity with Israel’s most vulnerable citizens in practical ways, including by sponsoring essential repairs to the homes of ten Holocaust survivors and renovating 24 large public bomb shelters in communities under frequent rocket attacks.
The start of 2026 was marked as a painful milestone in the long journey of recovery for Kibbutz Be’eri, as its western neighbourhoods were finally levelled. All but one house has been torn down, with one lone remaining structure preserved as a lasting testimony to the horrors of the October 7 terror invasion from nearby Gaza.
As the morning light breaks over central Israel, the large metal doors of our charitable partner Pitchon Lev’s 2,000-square-meter logistics center roll open. Forklifts hum across the floor, volunteers move swiftly between stacked pallets of food, and the smell of fresh produce fills the air.
Residents at the ICEJ’s Home for Holocaust Survivors in Haifa have endured the latest escalation in the long, intense war with Iran and Hizbullah, and are now embracing the summer months, showing their creativity in art, and blessings the community in special ways.
“Baguette or roll?”
A team of ICEJ staff repeated this phrase to over 1,000 Israelis while handing each of them two bags of groceries at a social welfare distribution site in Rishon LeZion.
Over the intense war with Iran, most Israelis have been reluctant to venture far from the safety of their closest bomb shelter. Still, they are trying to lead as normal a life as possible, and there are always errands to run and groceries to buy. Yet when the rocket sirens blare their warning of incoming missiles from Iran and Lebanon, those caught in traffic must make a mad dash for the nearest shelter – and finding one has become a dangerous and stressful game.
