I write this from the beautiful city of Jerusalem amidst the joyous celebrations of Jerusalem Day! There is no other place on earth that has a destiny comparable to Israel.
On March 30th, Israeli officials and ICEJ staff welcomed the arrival of 155 Jewish olim (new immigrants) from Ethiopia. We thank our supporters for their continued generosity.
We are the first generation of Christians who have had to deal theologically with a phenomenon – Israel’s re-emergence as a nation. How should the Church relate to this new situation?
ICEJ Australia has been up to a lot recently! Some team members represented ICEJ to Fiji’s officials. We observed Israel’s Holocaust Memorial Day (Yom Hazikaron), which on the same day as ANZAC Day in Australia.
ANZAC day will be commemorated in Australia and NZ. The ANZACs contributed to the victory in Palestine 1917, and their bravery led to the restoration of the Land of Israel.
On April 17th and 18th, Israel remember those who were murdered in the Holocaust. Yudit Setz coordinates ICEJ’s Haifa Home, which continues to demonstrate care for Holocaust Survivors.
Israel’s history as a democracy is truly unique due to the way this nation deliberately decided to become a democracy.
